TRIP TO DIBBA - MUSANDAM, OMAN

Tomorrow is a holiday (yehey!) because UAE is celebrating the Al-Isra wa Al-Miraj. Al-Isra wa Al-Miraj are the two parts of a Night Journey that, according to Islamic tradition, the Islamic prophet Muhammad took during a single night around the year 621. It has been described as both a physical and spiritual journey. So we had a 3-day weekend.

Since Monday, 11 June 2012, we already made a booking for one day dhow cruise in Dibba, Musandam, Oman. One of our friends saw it in "cobone" and found it interesting and cheap. So she invited us and we decided to join the group. (If you want to find cheap and discounted prices for items or trips, you could visit Cobone.com. They offer affordable prices).

Interior of the bus
The bus pick-up time from Abu Dhabi is 6:30 am, after all has been set, we had more or less 2 hour travel to Dubai. From the Mall of the Emirates, other passengers boarded and at around 8:30 am, we were moving out of Dubai and off to Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah to the border of Abu Dhabi and Oman. At the border they had to validated our identity and asked us to show any identification. When we are off the bus from the Dibba Port, we boarded the traditional Omani Dhow and started to cruise. We experience a memorable day cruising alongside the “Fjords of Musandam” & “Coastline of Musandam” boarding the customarily decorated Omani Dhow feasting our eyes on the remarkable panorama.

The dhow stopped in an area of the sea and we were allowed to swim and snorkel for about 2 hours. We also enjoyed riding the banana boat, wherein all of us were first timers. So the result was, at the first 30 seconds of our ride, the boat turned upside down (we were laughing heavily), it was embarrassing but we had a lot of fun.

Extravagant view of the sea
At 2:30 pm, we had our buffet lunch. Not a extravagant lunch, but it was good enough (for the price we paid). After which, off we go for and stopped at the middle of the sea to fish (although I didn’t try it because I was motion sick, the wave/ current was too strong!!). At around 05:00 pm, we headed back to Dibba port and boarded our bus.  We were tired and slept all the way back to Abu Dhabi.

In summary, the Musandam Dibba Oman Trip Includes:
  • Pick-up and drop back from Abu Dhabi/ Dubai on seat in coach basis
  • From the Dibba Port, 05 hours cruise on a traditional Omani Dhow with swimming, snorkeling and hand line fishing activities
  • Buffet lunch
  • Refreshments available on board, Arabic Coffee, Tea, Juice, sweets and Fresh Fruits

The day trip to the scenic town of Dibba situated in the Musandam peninsula will set you on a diverse holiday of enthusiasm and experience both by land and sea. The gracious and attentive crew on board will make sure you have an unforgettable journey in this beautiful part of Arabia. As you lie back and relax sipping Arabic coffee and tea on Bedouin style pillows and carpets, it is more akin to being part of Sindbad story than being on a boat. For those who crave to chill out, soak up in the, take in the panorama, capture memoirs to take back home in your camera, gently swim or with snorkel on your face and flippers on your legs take a exciting plunge down the crystal clear waters. Musandam peninsula is at the boundary of the ‘Western Palearctic’ where bird watchers can spot birds from three continents.

It was an unforgettable experience. Try it yourself and be captivated by the beauty of God's creation.
