SHORT BIBLE REFLECTION: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV

I've been grateful to God for always giving me a revelation when I faced any trouble. Just this afternoon, I was thinking about how "small" my salary is and been through a lot of thinking that I don’t save enough to invest. I was even comparing my old salary with my new one, telling myself that if this were still my salary, I could have saved and invested more (working towards my goal to be financially independent by investing). I felt like my salary is just enough for me to survive and if I spend for little luxury for myself, I will end up working for nothing.
At evening, a friend came at our house. He didn’t renew his employment contract with his previous company and is currently looking for a job and a better opportunity. He told us that any work will do as long as he will be qualified and mentioned us his previous salary. When I learned about his working condition, how their company treats them and how much his salary was; I realized that I am much more blessed to have a good working environment plus a good salary. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to emphasize his unfavorable condition (like sour grapping kind of thing) but God is talking to me through his life. Despite his condition, he remains positive and trusting God will help him on his situation. With that realization, God reminded me of a valuable lesson I forgotten for awhile, my sense of gratitude. I keep on complaining in just about anything, whether I am being vocal about it or not. I realized that I have to be thankful on any circumstances I am in, be satisfied and be happy with what I have, but at the same time looking for means to improve the situation through His help. When we learn to appreciate little things, we start receiving greater blessings.
My lessons:
·         be joyful always, be positive, acknowledge the situation because there is a purpose why you are in that situation;
·         pray continually, because when we pray that means we have faith and that every situation has a solution and this will give us hope;
·         remain grateful, stop complaining and start improving yourself.

Before we parted, we prayed for our friend as leaded by the Spirit. This is the best part, when we faced any circumstances, do not forget to pray. God will lead us.

One more lesson I learned, let us be conscious of other people around us, God is using them to bless us and teach us a lesson.

God bless us more...
