TRIP TO QASR AL SARAB - ABU DHABI, UAE

We had a site visit in one of our project today. And we had a lunch reservation at Qasr Al Sarab. I would like to share with you about our brief experience in this “secluded” place/ resort.

Located in the Liwa Desert, one of the largest uninterrupted sand deserts in the world, Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara embraces the epic adventures of this evocative landscape by providing a luxury oasis for discerning travelers. Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara distinguishes itself from other Abu Dhabi hotels bringing its guests the quintessential Abu Dhabi luxury resort experience with leisure facilities to please the most demanding of tastes.

From the main road, we have to drive more or less 20 minutes to reach the desert resort. During the ride, we were able to see the wonderful sceneries (different colors of sand, and a lot of “Esba” or farm) as road were paved in the mountain or hill. It was like a ride going to Baguio. We were amazed on how they managed to build that long road. What’s more, when we thought that we finally reached our destination (because of what seemed to be the gate or entrance), we were disappointed to find out that we have a long way to go (because we were starving as it was already 2:00 pm). One of our friends told us that, that it is actually what the name implies, “Qasr” means Palace and “Sarab” denote Mirage (Mirage Palace).  So, the first gate is like the illusion expecting us to find the place itself but when we reached that place, there is really nothing there (hope you know what I mean).

Buffet lunch served at Al Waha
When we finally went inside the place we were greeted by the staff. We went directly to the restaurant for our lunch. Qasr Al Sarab offers a choice of four dining venues that offer the greatest Middle Eastern cuisine and fine gastronomic experiences from across the globe. We were booked in Al Waha Restaurant. Al Waha, or ‘The Oasis’, serves as an all-day dining haven of cooking delights. A tantalising buffet with live cooking stations showcases Middle Eastern and international cuisine with a touch of traditional Emirati flair. The authentic flavours of this Abu Dhabi desert restaurant include Makbous, Shawarma, Hareess and Biryani, all brought to life by selected theme nights featuring local performance artists. They also serve sushi/maki (which I prefer), pasta and wonderful sweets.

After we were full, we were able to take pictures as a memoirs of our visit. And on our way back, we were once again amazed. After awhile, we were dozing off during our travel back in Abu Dhabi.

All in all, the experience is fantastic and I suggest that you try and check out the place.
