"But GOD’s not finished. He’s waiting around to be gracious to you. He’s gathering strength to show mercy to you. GOD takes the time to do everything right—everything. Those who wait around for him are the lucky ones." (Isaiah 30:18)
As we approach the New Year, I am just reminded how time flies so fast and how time is really precious. So we have to value it and learn how to use it wisely.
This has been a great year for me, because I believe I have achieved some personal things that I want to accomplish in my life. Some of the blessings I received in 2012 are:
First: I was able to obtain my UAE driving license in July. Since my first job here in UAE, I already have set a goal to apply for this. But circumstance didn’t allow me mainly because of my position title in my visa of my previous employer (note: there are some job categories that the Police/ Traffic Department will not accept). I tried to do something about it and even asked the help of our PRO but to no avail. But this year, God gave me a go signal. Although it wasn’t in my mind at first, but later on, I realized that everything went well without a hitch. My employment title in my new company allowed me to open a file and apply; I am near to the place of the Emirates Driving Company hence less travel, less fare, less effort. Although I did not pass on my three attempts, but I think the best lesson I learned from that experience is not to give up. I am almost there! What will happen if I gave up? I fail permanently. Failures are temporary unless you try and try until you get it. In the midst of frustration, we have to focus on our goal, why? we will reap the reward if we don’t give up. By the way, I decided to pursue obtaining license despite of the fact that I get motion sickness and afraid of the roads and accidents; but this is what I consider a leap of faith, out of my comfort zone and let God do His work on me.
Second: I had my first vacation after almost 2 years, plus a leisure trip to Singapore back in May. I was able to see the beauty of Singapore. Before, I am just seeing them in movies, internet or advertisements, but at that time, I saw them with my own eyes. It was a nice feeling being a tourist and experience their culture. It was a good experience.
Back in the Philippines, I was able to be with my family and bond with each other. Although it was a short one, but I enjoyed it and it was worth it.
Third: In terms of my spiritual life, I believe God is molding me to become a faithful servant to Him. We may have some struggles in our church, and at some point, I just want to "rest" for a while, but God loved me so much, He surrounded me with people that will lift me up and encourage me to move forward. I am thankful to the Lord for that.
For me, the year 2012 is a year of evolution (such a nice term) for me, and I believe God has in store many challenges and triumphs ahead of me this coming 2013, to become mature and not lacking anything (James 1:4).
This 2013, as my sister and I talked about, we want to make a goal for 2013. I told her that the goal should be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-bound). I should start doing it now and ask God's wisdom and help for me to attain that goals.
Let God guide us continuously this year as we see the day approaching.
