Me And My House

A Christian song by the Heritage Singers. The lyrics are taken from Joshua 24:15 where Joshua had led the Israelites into the Promised Land. He recounted to them all that the Lord had done in choosing them and redeeming them from slavery, bringing them out of Egypt, fighting their battles for them and finally bringing them into the Promised Land. But their journey had been frought with much grumbling and falling away from the Lord. So Joshua makes a stand and tells them to choose to serve the Lord, or the other gods of the land. But as for him as his house, he will serve the Lord.

Indeed it is the cry of every believer that we and our households will choose to serve the Lord. However, we know from Israel's over-zealous commitment that it was bound to fail, because they had simply tried relying on their own strength. Oh Lord how we need to rely on Your Spirit to serve You with all that we have. Help us to endure through the thick and thin, and to give You the praise You deserve for You are worthy!
