Initially, my plan at the time I came to Abu Dhabi was to save enough money so I could fulfill the dreams of my mother. I gave myself maximum of 2 years to make that promise and after that I will settle back in the Philippines (well, that was the original plan).
So when I started to work (after 6 months of looking and waiting, but it was all worth it), I made a allowance/budget on the expenses and as much as possible save the remaining. But as I go on, and met a lot of people and hearing their stories, I realized that I need to look also after my future. The plan changes (I guess). Aside from making my mother's dream come true, I decided to save more in order to establish our family business, so we don't have to work with other companies (people can't get enough). So the original 2 years was adjusted as well. As the Bible tells, "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps" (Proverbs 16:9) . I was also taught a tough lesson by my relative who worked almost all his life but all his hard work went to waste (no house to live, full of debt etc..). I don't want that to happen to me so I religiously save and learn from other people who are financially literate.
I searched in the internet and found some useful tips and information about financial literacy. So I joined many membership clubs and the recent one was the Truly Rich Club by Bo Sanchez. I am inspired by his words of wisdom and his ministry. He also has a good testimony about being truly rich, and that is finding God and how to use your financial blessings to become a blessings to other people. His story gave me an insight and used it as an encouragement. I want to become financially stable not only to help my family but to also help other people. When I mean help, it is not only in terms of their physical, financial, emotional, social, mental areas but also in their spiritual area (which is more important).
Knowing God and at the same time doing His will by serving one another is what makes one truly rich.
