HOW TO GET A DRIVING LICENSE IN ABU DHABI, UAE Part 1

Hi guys,

I recently open a driving file in Abu Dhabi, UAE (yehey!). Well, it is something I want to do a long time back, but circumstances didn't allow me to.  Actually, I think that this is the best time to do it.  Well, everything falls into places (Thank God).  I didn't encounter any problem in opening a file, getting a schedule and current working schedule (my boss is very supportive, praise God). This blog is about the process of getting a drivers license in Abu Dhabi for beginners like me. I hope that I can guide you through my experience.

A. Requirements are passport copy (please bring original for checking purpose), NOC from the company (if you are working in a private company), photo (3 at least), Emirates ID copy and not to forget the cash...

B. Opening a File: Ask the reception for the location of the Police Department for opening a file, they will check all your requirements on the counter, then have your eye test, which will cost AED 25/-. In the Eye Test section, they will check if your vision is "fit" to drive, if fit, then go and get the number to the counter, then wait for your number to be called. In my case, I didn't wait long because women are priority (thank God I'm a woman), they just asked me to go to any vacant counter. And paid AED 100/- for opening a file. They will give you a Drivers Test Appointment, and off you go for the schedule for Theory classes.

C. Theory Class: This is a four-day class composed of 2 lessons per day (2 1/2 hours excluding break) for a fee of a total of AED 830/-. But if you want to take it 1 time, you need to pay additional AED 300/- or AED 100/- for 2 days.

D. Theory Test: If you have finished the theory class, proceed to get the theory test. The Customer Service will ask your preferred schedule and if you agree, you could take the exam...
