The Church's One Foundation

A Christian hymn by Samuel John Stone. The lyrics speak of Jesus Christ being the church's one and only foundation, on which we are built upon. And this church is His bride whom He died and will come back for, and who are made up of all who believe in Him as Lord and Saviour. And though we toil in this world and eagerly hope and wait for His return, we have the awesome privilege of an intimate relationship with Him and knowing that our victory over sin and death has been won by Jesus who died for us.

Indeed Jesus is the church's one and only foundation, and a church not build upon Him is no church at all. Paul reiterates the centrality of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection to the Christian faith in 1 Cortinthians 15:12-20. And so the church continues to press on knowing that we serve a living and powerful God. Help us Lord to always look to Jesus as the chief Cornerstone of the church and to never forget that we exist because of Him and His work for us. And help us to love and serve Him all our days until He returns again!
